just curious... have you tried creating from the future instead of from the past or present? Imagining what you'd want said about you at your funeral, what you would be sad about missing if you hadn't accomplished by the time you were 100, etc? Creating this image of the future frequently gives greater clarity to your present - and likewise, not having the clear future to live into makes choices in the present much more difficult!

Interesting comment, madsax. Let me take it further. If you become comfortable with the idea that there is no Afterlife, you might suddenly find yourself liberated by the realization that time is finite.
A possible future is knocking on your door. You may or may not be interested. I think that preoccupation with the past could unravel one's future, however.
