...the holocaust was in a real sense a product of one of the leading genetics communities in the world, in Germany.  It didn't spring from the mind of a few nuts who happened to be racist.  It had been fostered by the tremendous enthusiasm of geneticists about what they were discovering early in the century.  I hadn't been taught that Joseph Mengele was a geneticist who was doing his studies at Auschwitz while supported by peer-reviewed grants.<br>
