wow! i saw that letter to the editor. it happened to be in the first new york times that i have read cover to cover.

a memorable letter, and even more remarkable that this is the same GK you have known for so long. congrats to him on that and on his book(s)!

i have to write a 250 word essay for a certain law school admission application that i think should be on the subject of something timely, like something i read in the newspaper. i wonder what advice GK might have on that. i think writing such a concise opinion is probably similar to writing such a short essay.

If he's trying to imply that getting paid 140M is "excessive" or "embarassing" he ought to state why.

On some level I can understand that most people will be writing to bitch, or to bitch at those who will bitch about this $140 million, and the editors see this as refreshingly non-bitchy.
But on another level it seems like I could've written that and had my name in the Times. Argh.
